Jony Ive's OpenAI Device: A Hockey Puck-Sized Smart Speaker

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the AI device developed by OpenAI in collaboration with former Apple design chief Jony Ive is essentially a smart speaker without a screen. The device is battery-powered, doughnut-shaped, and roughly the size of a hockey puck. Expected to launch in 2027 at a price exceeding $300, it will feature a distinctive design with moving parts, some of which will move autonomously to indicate when the device is responding or interacting with the user. It will also include lights, a camera system, and other sensors. Gurman's sources indicate that the battery-powered nature of the device makes it easy to carry around the home.
