CZ Binance Proposes ASEAN Crypto License Passporting Inspired by EU MiCA

Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, has called on ASEAN member states to implement a crypto license passporting system by 2026, drawing inspiration from the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. Speaking at a conference in Manila, Zhao argued that a unified licensing framework would significantly cut compliance costs for crypto businesses operating across Southeast Asia, while promoting innovation and investor protection. The proposal aims to transform ASEAN into a cohesive crypto federation, streamlining regulatory hurdles and boosting the region's competitiveness in the global digital asset market.
